Episode 2, "Twenty-Four Hours"
Mood:  bright
I am in the process of thinking about episode 2 of Starship Mojave, so I guess I can consider it is now in preproduction. There will be some big changes. The most notable change is that I am going to animation! There are many advantages of animation over live action. With the state of my life currently, I no longer possess the resources to do a live action film, so I have been learning what I can about animation. Don't expect too much - I'm going to do old-school limited animation, but I will still be able to tell my stories in this medium.

It's Been a While, but...
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: Dream Theater
Well, it's been a while since I posted in this blog. A lot has happened since the first episode was released. My life has changed substantially, including divorce. Now wait a minute, I know what you're thinking - the movie caused the divorce. Well, things have been building long before Starship Mojave was concieved. The movie may have been a catalyst, but it takes two people to divorce. I am not blameless, nor is the blame all on HER. It's just something that happened, and I had a bad few months but I'm better than ever now. The bad news is I've lost many of the set pieces and the studio. The good news is that I am planning episode two, it will just be a little different than I imagined. I think it will be good, but I'll let the audience decide. I will complete my university studies this June, and should have more time for other projects, such as Starship Mojave. I learned a lot in episode one, and hope to correct many issues in episode two. Besides, in the episode one credits I said "Starship Mojave will return in 'Twenty-Four Hours'". So if I said it, I will follow through with it, I'm just not sure of the timeline yet. So please hang in there!

Episode 1 Completed and Available for Viewing
Mood:  celebratory
I'm pleased to announce that the first episode, "Truth and Consequences", has been completed and is available for viewing and download on the Starship Mojave website. I plan on publishing it on YouTube also. The episode 1 outakes / bloopers will be released soon as well.

Starfleet Records
Mood:  spacey

I've just published Starfleet service records of the crew of the USS Mojave on the website. This took a while to do with my busy schedule, but was fun and allowed me to be creative with the characters.

I'd say episode one is about 98% done. Just a few finishing touches remain. I always wanted to do a screening for the cast somewhere, but this has been problematic. It would still be fun to do this, just for episode one, so everyone can meet the cast and see some of the props used. Trying to find a public central location with audio/visual equipment and not spending a small fortune has not been easy. Many places require event insurance, which costs more than actually renting the place. Then adding in a little food and I'm looking at about $400 for just about an hour. Incredible!

It's a Wrap!
Mood:  celebratory
After a very productive weekend and a lot of help from friends, principle photography has been completed on episode one! It required incredible patience and fortitude, as what was planned to be two weeks turned out to be two months. Many thanks to those who helped! The next stage is post-production, where all the editing takes place (and special effects added!)

Less than a week left...
Mood:  cool
Less than a week left to a big weekend of filming, on Saturday, September 13. I hope word has gotten around enough for the roles to be played to finish episode one, mostly extras for the village scenes, but hopefully people will be interested enough to help with future episodes.

Last Trip to Star Trek The Experience
Mood:  not sure

Just got home from a trip to Star Trek The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. Had a last meal at Quark's. The attraction's last day will be tomorrow, then it's gone after many years.

Forum now online
Mood:  bright

The Starship Mojave forum is now online! Hopefully it will grow.

Side note: With any luck, the filming scheduled for 06 September will complete principal photography, and I can move into post-production. Smile

Last set on the ship Now done
Mood:  chillin'
More filming today, on the last set on board the USS Mojave! Just a few other sets remain (planet surface), and then some outdoor locations, then a massive postproduction effort, and it will be done. Thanks to some newfound friends!

Trailer now available for episode 1
Mood:  happy
I'm pleased to announce that the trailer for episode 1, "Truth and Consequences", is now available. This should be considered a preliminary trailer, and was put together with some clips I have so far. The shots of the USS Mojave are about a year old, and will be much improved in the final cut of the film. Now if I could just get more actors...
